Day 1 Kota Kinabalu – Nabawan – Maliau Basin
0600hrs depart for 5-6 hours overland journey to Sook, Nabawan, Sapulut to reach the security gate of Maliau Basin Conservation Area (MBCA) with lunch on route. Upon arrival, visit information gallery. Freshen up and get ready for the night activity. After dinner, enjoy a night drive in search of nocturnal animals (subject to weather condition). There will be possibility to encounter the Sambar deer, bearded pigs, Malay civet and flying squirrel. Overnight at the Studies Centre – Resthouse Deluxe. (L/D)
Day 2 Nepenthes Camp – Waterfalls
After breakfast, begin trekking through the rainforest for 7.5 km trail to Nepenthes Camp. Have simple refreshment at the camp while relaxing your muscles before we proceed for another 3 km trekking to 8 | P a g e Takob – Akob Falls and Giluk Falls (2.8km). Swimming and relaxing at the waterfall (subject to time and weather condition) before returning to Nepenthes Camp for overnight stay. (B/L/D)
Day 3 Ginseng Camp – Waterfalls
Today, we trek for approximately 6.7 km to Ginseng Camp. Discover the abundance of nepenthes plants along “Jalan Babi”. Arrive at Ginseng Campsite, relax and swim in the nearby cool forest waterfall (subject to time and weather condition) and immerse yourself to the sound of the wilderness. Stay overnight at Ginseng Camp. (B/L/D)
Day 4 Trekking – Waterfalls
Resume trek to the spectacular seven tier Maliau Falls and enjoy a refreshing swim. Trekking back to Ginseng Camp site for overnight stay. The trek will be 4.8 km each way. (B/L/D)
Day 5 Depart – Kota Kinabalu
After breakfast, leave Ginseng Camp site for the 9 km trek to Agathis Camp. Pack up before transfer to Maliau gate before we depart for Keningau, en route to Kota Kinabalu. (B/L)
Please bring along long pants for trekking, rain cover or water tight proof bags, at least 2 – 2.5 Litre / day of drinking water bottle, insect repellent, walking stick, head lamps (including extra bulb and batteries), personal toiletries, slipper or sandals, energy food (chocolate, raisins, nuts, rehydration salt, glucose, etc)
Note: Temperature at night could drop to 13’ -15’ C. Personal potter is available upon request at a surcharge. All trekkers are required to fill in confidential medical information form and Indemnity Form which will be provided during pre-briefing session prior to the commencement of tour. In the event of heat exhaustion, injury or sickness, helicopter rescue can be arranged at client’s expenses.
